We present here one of the latest bottle designs by SIPA that matches aesthetics with sustainability features, as it contains 30% of chemically recycled PET and is refillable up to 20 times.

This bottle was engineered to be a visually appealing reference model for the premium HO.RE.CA. sector.

Target

The ETERNA project aims to provide a high-performance, sustainable alternative to glass for the HO.RE.CA. (Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering) sector. Its primary goal is to create a refillable PET bottle that can seamlessly integrate into existing glass bottling lines. Designed to handle both still and carbonated water (up to 3.5 CO2 volume) and to significantly reduce the weight of refillable containers.

Result

The project successfully produced a "reference model" for industrial refillable applications with the following specifications:

  • Weight Efficiency: Achieved a weight of only 49.5 grams, significantly lighter than traditional refillable PET bottles which typically range from 60 to 80 grams.
  • Material Composition: Produced using Polyclear PET F061 resin, incorporating 30% chemically recycled content (BHET).
  • Digital Traceability: Implementation of a QR code system for unique bottle identification, allowing for full lifecycle tracking and monitoring of washing/filling cycles.
  • Production Capability: Demonstrated on the SIPA XTRA 8 injection-stretch blow molding system, featuring a lightweight neck finish compatible with standard refill operations.
